Smart Bricks is an AI-powered real estate investing platform designed to empower investors with advanced analytics and AI-driven ROI simulations based on comprehensive data insights.

I designed the MVP-V1 to enhance informed decision-making for investors. This strategic UX design resulted in a 70% increase in landing page conversions and a rise in closed deals from 6% to 28% within the first month.

Overview

Following the announcement of Stadia’s shutdown, questions remained on what would happen with the platform’s Wi-Fi proprietary controller — whether they could still be used wirelessly, or become e-waste.

I led the end-to-end design direction of the web experience for enabling Bluetooth on the controllers and played a pivotal role in defining the update process.

The website's launch was met with outstanding public sentiment from the community and publications, alongside 1 million+ successfully updated controllers.

Smart Bricks hosts an extensive database of real estate listings, creating a need for a search feature that narrows down options to match users' investment preferences effectively.

Without an optimized search flow, users could become overwhelmed, leading to high bounce rates and disengagement. 

Why is this feature necessary?

Investing in real estate involves numerous variables and personal preferences, making it a complex decision-making process.

This feature simplifies the process by gathering key data to provide curated, relevant listings, enhancing user experience and decision-making.

Goals

  • Simplify the search flow to reduce overwhelm.
  • Deliver curated listings based on user preferences.
  • Provide search criteria that help users understand the market and regional dynamics better.
  • Keep users involved throughout the search process, ensuring they remain engaged even beyond the MVP.

Due to technical constraints with API integrations from various property vendors, the MVP-1 phase could not support a robust keyword search functionality.

Iterative Development

Planned future integration of keyword search functionality as API issues are resolved post-MVP.

Overcoming the Challenge

After thorough research and collaboration with the backend team, we identified that search criteria could be refined through pre-defined search lists.

This approach bypassed the immediate need for keyword search by categorizing properties based on critical investment factors (e.g., location, property type, projected ROI).

This allowed us to deliver a functional and user-friendly search experience within the MVP-1 constraints.

Users often have multiple investment priorities, requiring an efficient way to organize and monitor various search results.

The Watchlists feature addresses this need by allowing users to create multiple lists tailored to different investment preferences.

The auto-pilot mode further enhances this by automatically updating the watchlists and notifying users of new matching opportunities.

Why is this feature necessary?

Given the vast number of property listings, users need tools to streamline their search process.

The Watchlists feature allows them to manage different investment interests without manual tracking, making it easier to stay updated on new opportunities that match their criteria.

For instance, a user may simultaneously track off-plan investments and ready-to-move properties, each requiring distinct parameters.

Goals

  • Allow users to create and manage multiple Watchlists based on varying investment preferences.
  • Provide an auto-pilot mode to automatically refresh watchlists and notify users of new matching properties.
  • Keep users actively engaged by sending timely notifications of relevant investment opportunities.

Risk of cluttering the Watchlist Cards with too many details, making them difficult to manage.

Ensuring essential details are not overlooked, providing users with all they need at a glance.

Overcoming the Challenge

By focusing on a clear information hierarchy, we emphasized key metrics (like property type, location, and ROI) while using concise summaries for less critical data.

We also optimized the auto-pilot mode to deliver timely, relevant notifications without overwhelming the user.
